The Essential 55 Rule for this week is rule #15, "Do not ask for a reward for grades or behavior." An example of this would be if you win a game, don't ask the teacher for a reward. That is rude. She will give you a prize if she thinks you deserve it.

The Character Education trait for May is trustworthiness. An example of this would be to keep your friends' secrets. If your mom leaves you home alone do what is expected of you.

The Foley Archery Team has now been qualified for the nationals. They are going to Louisville, Kentucky. We have had many fund raisers to sponsor them to go. They leave Thursday and won't come back till Sunday. Let's wish them good luck!

Mrs. Manolakis' class has been busy working on experiments in science. We did an experiment to turn salt water into fresh water. We had a jar that we filled with salt water. Then we put in an empty cup with weights so it wouldn't float. Then we put plastic wrap over the top of the jar and pushed it down into the jar to form a point. We put one weight on that to keep it in place. We put the jars outside. When the water evaporated, the water vapor hit the plastic wrap and fell into the cup. The water in the cup is fresh water.

We also dissected a squid. First we identified the parts of the squid, like the arms, the tentacles, the stabilizing fins, and the siphon. Then we cut the mantle from the tentacle side to the top. Then we identified the organs like the liver, the two hearts, and the brain. After that we cut up some more squid, breaded them, fried them, and ate them. They were delicious! We would like to thank Mrs. Manolakis for doing these experiments with us. She is a very fun teacher!
